Our Start


In 1972 a need came to the attention of the leaders of Dorcas Ministries; lower-income people needed a place where they could shop with dignity for clothing and household items. The Dorcas Thrift Shop was organized as the solution for this concern.

The Dorcas Thrift Shop offers a wide variety of merchandise including clothing for the whole family, shoes, coats, small appliances, vintage items, books, in-store floral arrangements, jewelry, audio books, toys/games, lamps, dishes, and more, all at affordable prices.

You can assist the Dorcas Ministries programs through the Dorcas Thrift Shop by donating clothing and other items that are in good condition that you no longer need and by shopping in the Dorcas Thrift Shop. Sales in the Dorcas Thrift Shop provide the bulk of the funding for the Crisis Ministry and other outreach ministries.

The Dorcas Thrift Shop is named for Dorcas, described in Acts 9:36, who helped the poor in her community. Acts 9:36: In Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha (which, when translated, is Dorcas), who was always doing good and helping the poor.

In efforts to continue its outreach in the local community, Dorcas Ministries has formed an online presence via eBay to help the fund-raising arm of the organization and to continue its mission of providing help when it counts.

Our eBay team guarantees your satisfaction with all items sold or your money back. We are raising money to help others, but we will not deceive or disappoint anyone to do this. In other words we will not "rob Peter to pay Paul." Service to you is our priority along with service to those in need. Happy Bidding.

Are you a shopper on eBay or a seller? Are you shopping our store online and find nothing to your interest but still feel the call to help those in need? Then for every item that you sell you have the option of contributing a portion of your sales to Dorcas Ministries. You can donate 10-100% of your sale to Dorcas Ministries, and eBay will give you a credit on basic selling fees for sold items.

In an effort to keep our volunteers, staff, and customers safe during times of inclement weather Dorcas Ministries and The Dorcas Thrift Shop follows the Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) for Closings and Delays. If WCPSS is closed for the day, then the Dorcas Thrift Shop is closed. If WCPSS is on a time delay, then the Dorcas Thrift Shop is delayed by the same amount of time.
