Dorcas Ministries is fortunate to have over 300 dedicated and hard-working volunteers. We would like to thank each volunteer for supporting Dorcas Ministries and helping us make a difference in the Cary and Morrisville community.
Each month, we are going to introduce one of the many faces of Dorcas Ministries. Every volunteer contributes to our organization in different ways and we could not operate without each of them.
This month we are bringing you the story of one our volunteers, Barbara Garlock, who passed away on June 23rd.
Barbara began volunteering with Dorcas Ministries in 2009 as a Crisis Minister and went on to serve on the Programs Committee. She was instrumental in our partnership with St. Francis United Methodist Church.
When asked about Barbara, Jill Straight, Outreach Programs Manager said, “She was a tireless client advocate and a deeply loving person! I miss her so much!”
In addition to volunteering at Dorcas Ministries, Barbara was an advocate for cancer patients. Her dream was to start a Center for Patient Partnerships, helping people navigate our broken health systems. The video below was filmed in 2009 and is of Barbara sharing her dream!
Barbara will be very much missed at Dorcas Ministries.
